Akron sits about twenty-five minutes north of our shop, and we have been running calls up there long enough to know what the housing stock does to appliances. A Goodyear Heights bungalow with the laundry in a low basement is a different service call than a Merriman Valley condo stack or a newer build out toward Copley. Same brands, same parts — different access, different venting, different failure patterns. We repair KitchenAid, Whirlpool, GE, LG, Samsung, Maytag and most other major brands, and we tell you what we find before we touch anything.

Brands We Service

What a Service Call Actually Costs

Most companies in this market will not publish a number. We will. The service call runs $167 to $227 depending on how far out you are and what we are looking at, and it comes off the repair if you go ahead with the work. You are not paying twice.

Finished repairs typically land between $167 and $400 including parts and labor. Straightforward mechanical work — a dryer belt, a washer drain pump, a bad door switch — sits near the bottom. Control boards and sealed-system refrigeration sit near the top. You get the exact figure before we start, not after.

Labor is backed for six months. Parts carry the manufacturer's or vendor's own warranty.

How We Diagnose

A lot of appliance failures look identical from the outside and are nothing alike underneath. A refrigerator that is warm in the fresh-food side but frozen solid in the freezer is usually an air-flow or defrost problem, not a compressor — and a compressor quote on that symptom is how people end up replacing a working machine. A dryer that runs but will not heat has maybe four realistic causes, and three of them are inexpensive.

So we test rather than guess: actual readings on the component, actual temperatures, actual continuity. The model and serial tell us the design, the error history tells us what the board has already seen, and the failure pattern tells us whether the part that broke is the cause or just the symptom. That last distinction is what stops a repair from failing twice.

If the honest answer is that the machine is not worth fixing, we say so on the spot. A $500 repair on an eight-year-old builder-grade dishwasher is not a good trade against a new one, and we would rather tell you that than sell it to you.

What Akron Homes Throw At Us

Older housing stock

Much of Akron predates the appliances now sitting in it. Tight basement laundry areas, long or crushed dryer vent runs, original 1950s outlets feeding a modern machine, and cellar stairs no full-size refrigerator was ever meant to clear. Long vent runs in particular cause heating complaints that look like a broken dryer and are not.

Hard water

Scale is the quiet killer on dishwashers and washers in this area. It shows up as poor cleaning, cloudy glass, slow drain and eventually a failed valve or heater. Often the fix is descaling and a valve rather than the whole machine — if it is caught before the heater goes.

Rentals and multi-unit

Around the university and along the Highland Square corridor there is a lot of stacked and compact equipment, much of it mixed-vintage. We work on it, and we can bill the owner directly when we are called by a landlord or property manager.

Newer builds out west

Copley, Fairlawn and Bath bring the opposite problem: late-model machines that are heavy on electronics. These are usually board, sensor or communication faults, and they need the error history read properly rather than parts thrown at them.

Where We Go in the Akron Area

Akron proper — including Highland Square, West Akron, Wallhaven, Merriman Valley, Firestone Park, Goodyear Heights, Ellet, Kenmore and North Hill — plus Mogadore, New Franklin, Cuyahoga Falls, Stow, Tallmadge, Fairlawn, Copley, Barberton, Norton and Green.

We are honest about the drive: Akron is the northern edge of our area, so we route it deliberately rather than pretending every call is a fifteen-minute hop. That usually means we can give you a real arrival window instead of “sometime Tuesday.”

What to Expect

  1. You tell us the symptom. Brand, model number if you can find it, and what the machine is actually doing. Model plates hide behind the door frame, under the lid, or on the back wall of the fridge.
  2. We give you a real window and text when we are on the way — not a nine-hour block.
  3. We diagnose and quote before we work. You approve the figure first. Always.
  4. Most repairs finish on the first visit. When a part has to be ordered, you get the timeline up front.
  5. Labor is warranted six months. If the same fault comes back in that window, we come back.

Common Questions From Akron Customers

Do you actually come to Akron, or just say you do?

We actually come. Akron is a regular part of our route rather than an afterthought — but it is the northern edge of our area, so we schedule it in blocks. Call early in the day and you have a much better chance of same-day or next-day.

Is the service call really applied to the repair?

Yes. If you approve the work, the service call comes off the total. It is not an extra fee stacked on top.

Will you tell me if it is not worth repairing?

Yes, and we do it regularly. We would rather lose the repair than sell you one that does not make financial sense on a machine near the end of its life.

Do you work on LG and Samsung?

Yes. A lot of independents avoid them because of parts complexity and board-level diagnostics. We have been servicing both for years and they are a routine part of what we do.

Can you bill a landlord or property manager?

Yes. Tell us at booking who is responsible for the invoice and we will set it up that way, including for multi-unit properties.
