The Problem

Compressor cycling on and off, drawing 6 amps against a nameplate LRA of 7.91 on the Embraco ESX 55CBC. Tested compressor windings at 9.9, 12.5, and 20 ohms — within tolerance, no shorts or opens. Windings electrically sound. Compressor drawing locked rotor amperage and tripping its internal overload — mechanically seized.
Compressor requires replacement. Unit manufactured week 50 of 2021 and falls within Whirlpool’s 5-year sealed system warranty from date of purchase. No repair performed. Customer purchased the unit from Home Appliance, a Whirlpool factory-authorized servicer, and is contacting them directly to schedule warranty repair. Diagnosis provided for reference.
